11th November,1948.

Dear Sirs,

We have received a letter from the Colonial Secretariat at Hong Kong in connection with our claim for compensation in respect of property lost as a result of the Japanese occupation of the Colony. Paragraph 3 of their covering letter reads as follows:-

"Consideration is being given to the extension to former residents in

the Far East now domiciled in the United Kingdom of the free benifits of the United Kingdom Private Chattels Scheme and details of this scheme will be available from the Board of Trade in due course

In November, 1945, when we lodge cur claim we did it in duplicate by lodging one copt with you and onopy with the Hong Kong and Malayan Accountant. Since our claim will not now be met by the Government

of Hong Kong, we shall be obliged if you will tell us what alternative arrangements have been made by your Department to compensate in terms of

the principle underlying paragraph 3 of the Colonial Secretariat's letter which is quoted above.

Yours faithfully,

Lewis Tylor Ltd.

Secretary.
